Starlink Lowers Satellite Orbits to Boost Space Safety
SpaceX will lower thousands of Starlink satellites to reduce collision risks starting in 2026 following recent orbital incidents.Michael Nicolls stated the company will move approximately 4,400 units from 550 kilometers to 480 kilometers above Earth to avoid congested regions.This strategic shift aims to speed up deorbiting times and enhance constellation safety as the network expands to serve over nine million global customers.
