The 7th US Circuit Court of Appeals has temporarily blocked a lower court order that limited federal immigration enforcement in
Chicago, labeling it overbroad and too prescriptive.
This ruling came after the Trump administration requested emergency relief following a preliminary injunction issued by Judge Sara Ellis related to immigration enforcement tactics. Another federal judge, Jeffrey Cummings, ordered the release of hundreds of detainees due to a local consent decree, but the appeals court blocked this release at the administration's request and scheduled further oral arguments for December 2.
