The US Supreme Court, led by Justice
Samuel A. Alito Jr., temporarily blocked a federal court ruling that declared Texas' 2026 redistricting plan as racial gerrymandering.
This decision allows Texas to use its new GOP-favored electoral map during the 2026 congressional primaries while the Court reviews the appeal. The plan, endorsed by Donald Trump and Greg Abbott, is challenged for creating additional Republican-leaning districts and flipping Democratic seats to secure GOP majority.
