Supreme Court Launches Conflict Software Following Ethics Scrutiny

The US Supreme Court announced on Tuesday that it will implement internally developed software to scan legal filings for potential conflicts of interest and assist justices with recusal decisions.Parties appearing before the court must now provide stock-ticker symbols and other financial disclosures to be matched against lists of organizations and individuals provided by each justice.This move follows ethics scrutiny involving Clarence Thomas, Sonia Sotomayor, and Neil Gorsuch, leading Gabe Roth of Fix the Court to question why the software took over two years to deploy.
