Austin Appelbee swam for four hours to rescue his mother Joanne Appelbee and siblings after they became lost while kayaking near Quindalup.The thirteen-year-old boy abandoned his kayak and life vest to reach the shore before running two kilometers to contact emergency services.Police Chief James Bradley commended the heroism of Austin Appelbee after the family was rescued following ten hours in the water.
