The EU (EU) is implementing a "military Schengen" initiative to enable rapid movement of soldiers and military equipment across Europe amid concerns about Russian aggression.
The EU approved a $20.4 billion defense package aimed at reducing bureaucratic delays for cross-border deployments from 45 days to 48 hours. EU Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius and foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas emphasized the initiative's importance, with plans for full operational readiness by 2030.
