Prosecutors launched a formal investigation after the Italian Financial Police seized more than 435 kilograms of high-purity cocaine at the port of Gioia Tauro on December 24, 2025.The narcotics, which were discovered within 1,000 sacks of peanuts arriving from Latin America, have an estimated street value exceeding 70 million euros.
