National security chief Jorge Torres announced a confidential investigation into an alleged plot to assassinate Rodrigo Chaves involving a hired hitman.Security for the president has been increased ahead of the national elections on February 1 where the incumbent is ineligible for reelection.The disclosure coincides with a planned visit from Nayib Bukele and the ongoing campaign of ruling party candidate Laura Fernández.
