Judge Ana Reyes blocked Donald Trump’s administration from ending Temporary Protected Status for approximately 353,000 Haitian migrants following a last-minute ruling in Washington.The decision pauses a plan by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem that was set to take effect on February 3, 2026, after the court found it likely that the termination was motivated by hostility toward nonwhite immigrants.Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin called the ruling lawless activism and confirmed the administration will seek an emergency intervention from the Supreme Court.
