Judges at this year's World Cheese Awards crowned the Swiss Gruyère AOP "Vorderfultigen Spezial" as the best cheese in the world for 2025, produced by cheesemaker Pius Hitz. This cheese, aged over 18 months, was among 5,244 entries evaluated by a panel of 265 international cheese experts, reflecting a 9% increase from the previous year. The event, held in Switzerland for the first time, aimed to promote small cheesemakers globally and will next take place in Córdoba, Spain.
