Kristi Noem, Secretary of the DHS (DHS), oversaw
Operation Charlotte's Web which arrested over 250 undocumented immigrants in
Charlotte and Raleigh, targeting those linked to serious crimes.
The operation caused disruptions in Latino communities, with protests led by Rev. Joel Simpson, Jerry Ortiz, and Manolo Betancur, and impacted local businesses and school attendance. In southeastern Louisiana, the Swamp Sweep operation led by Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino plans to arrest up to 5,000 immigrants despite opposition from local leaders including Helena Moreno and support from Governor Jeff Landry.
