Ryan Schwank Warns ICE Training Cuts Will Lead to Unlawful Arrests

Former instructor Ryan Schwank warned Congress that ICE is cutting training requirements to rapidly expand mass deportation operations under Donald Trump.During a hearing with Richard Blumenthal and Robert Garcia, Ryan Schwank alleged that recruits take open-book tests and receive no legal instruction on the use of force.While Acting Director Todd Lyons defended the streamlined curriculum, the agency plans to hire 10,000 officers using funds from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.Richard Blumenthal argued that the lack of preparation for 4,000 new recruits expected by September will lead to widespread unlawful arrests.
