Denis Sassou Nguesso Seeks Fifth Term as Congo President

Denis Sassou Nguesso officially declared his candidacy for the March 15 presidential election in Congo-Brazzaville while attending an agricultural fair in Ignié.The 82-year-old leader is seeking a fifth consecutive term after holding power for over forty years following a constitutional amendment in 2015 that removed term limits.While the Congolese Labour Party supports the incumbent, opposition figures like Anguios Nganguia-Engambé and the Alliance for Democratic Alternation have also entered the race.
