Simone Moro, a 58-year-old Italian high-altitude climber from Bergamo known for winter ascents of eight-thousand-meter peaks, fell ill while descending Mera Peak and was evacuated to Kathmandu for medical checks.According to his team and reports from Explorersweb and Tourism Times, Moro felt unwell after passing 5,000 meters on the descent, having reached the summit earlier with Nima Rinji Sherpa while Polish photographer Oswald Rodrigo Pereira summited separately.He was airlifted by helicopter to a Kathmandu hospital following a remote video consultation with doctors in Italy, and his team says, "He is better, in good spirits, and is undergoing medical treatment," while further tests continue.
