Cloudflare reported that a massive internet outage was caused by an internal programming error related to their Bot Management system and database access permissions. Platforms affected included Elon Musk's X, IKEA, Shopify, GitHub, ChatGPT, Spotify, and YouTube, with the outage lasting about six hours and causing losses estimated at $15 billion per hour. Cloudflare's CEO Matthew Prince called the incident "unacceptable and painful" and said the company is conducting a thorough review to prevent similar issues and improve system safeguards.
