Platforms affected included Elon Musk's X, IKEA, Shopify, GitHub, ChatGPT, Spotify, and YouTube, with the outage lasting about six hours and causing losses estimated at $15 billion per hour. Cloudflare's CEO Matthew Prince called the incident "unacceptable and painful" and said the company is conducting a thorough review to prevent similar issues and improve system safeguards.
