The EU has launched a formal investigation into Chinese fast-fashion retailer Shein following allegations of systemic failures regarding illegal products and addictive platform design under the Digital Services Act.Regulators are scrutinizing the sale of prohibited items such as child-like sex dolls and weapons after a French court deferred a suspension case involving Chris Xu and his company to the EU.The probe, which also examines algorithm transparency and reward systems, could result in fines of up to 6% of the global annual turnover for the platform.
