Susan Illston will block the Trump administration from laying off hundreds of federal workers following unions' lawsuit to stop more than 4,000 cuts announced during the 43-day government shutdown.Illston said she will bar the State Department and the Department of Education from cutting about 250 and 150 jobs, order several agencies to reinstate roughly 300 people, and will issue a written order that she may pause to allow a government appeal while the unions' case proceeds.
