Emmanuel Macron appointed Christophe Leribault as the new director of the Louvre following the resignation of Laurence des Cars after a €88M jewel heist.The 62-year-old Christophe Leribault, who previously led the Palace of Versailles and Musée d'Orsay, takes over the museum amid a crisis of trust.He will oversee the "Louvre New Renaissance" project, a massive renovation plan estimated to cost up to €1.15B over the next decade.The project includes a new entrance near the Seine and a dedicated gallery for the "Mona Lisa" to improve security and visitor flow at the institution.
