EU Orders TikTok to Change Addictive Design Features

The EU found TikTok in violation of the Digital Services Act on Friday after a preliminary investigation concluded its algorithm and infinite scrolling features are illegally addictive.Henna Virkkunen stated that the platform must now remove these harmful design elements and implement mandatory usage breaks to protect the mental health of minors.TikTok could face a global fine of up to $12B if the findings are confirmed by the EU following the company's formal response.
