Elmina Aghayeva Released After DHS Arrest at Columbia University

Columbia University student Elmina Aghayeva was released from federal custody after Department of Homeland Security agents allegedly used deceptive tactics to arrest her at a Manhattan residence.Acting President Claire Shipman condemned the agents for posing as police officers searching for a missing child to gain entry, while lawyers filed a habeas corpus petition.The Department of Homeland Security claimed Elmina Aghayeva’s student visa expired in 2016, but she was released after social media pleas and reports of her links to Donald Trump.
