Judge Bars Trump Administration From Searching Reporter's Devices
Magistrate Judge William Porter barred the DOJ from searching devices seized from Washington Post reporter Hannah Natanson during a leak investigation involving Aurelio Luis Perez-Lugones.The court will instead independently review the materials after the Donald Trump administration failed to cite the Privacy Protection Act when obtaining the search warrant for the raid. While the judge ruled that First Amendment rights were restrained, he declined to order the immediate return of the property pending a full judicial review.
