Tarique Rahman Wins General Election to Become Prime Minister

Tarique Rahman is poised to become the prime minister of Bangladesh after the Bangladesh Nationalist Party secured a majority in the first general election since the 2024 revolution.The victory follows the return of Tarique Rahman from 17 years of exile in London after the ouster of Sheikh Hasina and the death of his mother, Khaleda Zia.The incoming government pledged to restore the rule of law and reboot the economy after political unrest resulted in 1,400 deaths and the sentencing of Sheikh Hasina.
