Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani summoned Israeli Ambassador Jonathan Peled after an armed settler threatened two Carabinieri at gunpoint in the West Bank.The officers were conducting a reconnaissance mission for an EU diplomatic visit near Ramallah when they were forced to kneel and interrogated by an individual wielding a submachine gun.Italy has lodged formal protests with the government of Benjamin Netanyahu after discovering that claims regarding the officers entering a restricted military zone were false.
