Viola Ford Fletcher, the oldest living survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre and an advocate for justice, has died at the age of 111 in a Tulsa hospital surrounded by family.Fletcher, who authored the memoir "Don't Let Them Bury My Story" in 2023, testified before Congress and sought reparations through high-profile legal action with her brother Hughes Van Ellis and her fellow survivor Lessie Benningfield Randle.The city recently committed $105 million to a trust fund related to the massacre, while Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols and supporters continue calls for recognition and reparations for victims and their descendants.
