Claudette Colvin Dies at 86 After Pioneering Civil Rights Action

Civil rights pioneer Claudette Colvin has died at the age of 86 after a lifetime of activism that began with her arrest in Alabama.At only 15 years old in 1955, she refused to surrender her bus seat to a white passenger, an act of defiance that preceded the famous protest by Rosa Parks.She later became a primary plaintiff in the landmark federal lawsuit that successfully ended bus segregation across the USA.
