Global carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels are projected to reach a new record level in 2025, amounting to 42.2 billion tons, reflecting a 52 percent increase over pre-industrial levels. Experts, including Pierre Friedlingstein from the Global Systems Institute at the University of Exeter, warn that the necessary carbon budget to limit warming is practically exhausted and will be depleted before 2030. This troubling trend indicates a bleak outlook for global climate efforts, with atmospheric CO2 levels predicted to reach around 425.7 parts per million.
