Senators Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to recuse herself from the DOJ review of potential deals for Warner Bros. Discovery after disclosing that her former employer Ballard Partners has lobbied for both Netflix and Paramount. The senators cited an ethics agreement that bars Bondi from participating in matters involving Ballard for one year, noted the restriction expires on Feb. 4, and said a press release has slated Bondi to lead the review alongside Antitrust Division chief Gail Slater while DOJ had not immediately responded to requests for comment. The recusal request comes as
Warner Bros. Discovery has agreed to sell streaming and studio assets to
Netflix and
Paramount has mounted a hostile $30‑per‑share tender led by
David Ellison, a rivalry the Warner board says shareholders should reject and that regulators including the
DOJ and the
European Commission expect could prompt a 12‑to‑18‑month review.
