Delcy Rodríguez Frees 379 Prisoners Under New Amnesty Law

Venezuela started releasing 379 political prisoners after acting president Delcy Rodríguez enacted a new Amnesty Law following the capture of Nicolás Maduro by the USA in January.Minister of Defense Vladimir Padrino López hailed the legislative move as a sign of political stability and strength for the current government.The organization Foro Penal and director Alfredo Romero cautioned that the law excludes hundreds of detainees from its narrow timeframe.A special commission led by Jorge Arreaza and Nora Bracho will now review the cases of 230 individuals who do not qualify for immediate release.
