A motorist in Swain County, North Carolina, experienced a bald eagle dropping a deceased cat carcass through her car's windshield on US Route 74.
Kendrick Weeks from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission explained that bald eagles often scavenge roadkill and can carry animals as large as cats, although they rarely prey on live cats. The North Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed the incident and noted that such wildlife encounters highlight the surprising interactions motorists can have with native animals.
