Francis of Assisi remains publicly displayed for first time ever

The remains of Saint Francis of Assisi are on public display for the first time at the Basilica of Saint Francis to mark the 800th anniversary of his death.Over 400,000 pilgrims have registered for the month-long exhibition following an initiative supported by the late Pope Francis to honor the patron saint of Italy.The relics are housed in a bulletproof glass box near the altar as Valter Stoppini manages a 30 percent surge in tourism following the canonization of Carlo Acutis.Marco Moroni and the Franciscan community organized the event which includes shuttle services and 400 volunteers to assist the influx of visitors through the medieval city.
