Emilio Kropff and Alejandro Schinder Restore Neurogenesis in Mice

#SanNicolas, #Argentina
Emilio Kropff and Alejandro Schinder report that synchronized 40 hertz light-and-sound stimulation restored hippocampal neurogenesis in aged mice, following an earlier report about commercial NAD+ IV infusions in Frankfurt that raised questions about access and efficacy.Researchers at CONICET and Fundación Instituto Leloir treated aged mice with three one-hour audiovisual gamma sessions per day for 17 days using white LEDs and pulsed sound while recording hippocampal activity with implanted electrodes and found almost double the neuron growth in stimulated animals compared with controls.Schinder and colleagues linked the effect to reactivated neuroplasticity, noted there were no signs of stress in animals, and warned that despite studies since 2016 and some early phase‑1 trials a safe, effective human therapy is not yet available.
