Thanos Plevris Plans EU Deportation Centers in Africa to Deter Migrants

Greece and four other EU nations are planning to establish deportation centers in Africa for migrants whose asylum applications are rejected.Migration Minister Thanos Plevris announced that Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and Denmark are collaborating on the initiative to deter prospective arrivals.The proposal follows a 21% decrease in illegal entries during 2025, though officials aim to increase the current annual return rate of 7,000 people.
