Delphine Ziegler said she felt sad and at peace after Frédéric Péchier was sentenced to life in prison following his conviction for poisoning 30 patients between 2008 and 2017.The sentence includes life with immediate incarceration, a 22-year period ineligible for parole and a permanent ban from practising medicine; the conviction covers 12 murders and 18 attempted murders.Investigators opened a probe in 2017 after a colleague tested an intravenous bag and found high potassium, prosecutors say Péchier contaminated bags with potassium and other drugs, survivors and relatives gave testimony during a three-and-a-half-month trial, and Péchier denies the accusations and plans to appeal.
