The Danish Social Democrats lost control of Copenhagen for the first time in 122 years after the recent municipal elections. Sisse Marie Welling of the Green Left won the lord mayor position with 17.9% of the votes, while the left-wing alliance Enhedslisten became the largest party with 22.1%. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen acknowledged the scale of the defeat but said she had no plans to resign, as the elections reflected urban voters' rejection of the Social Democrats' tough asylum policies and high living costs.
