Jayden Daniels was shut down for the remainder of the season after a team re-evaluation found he was not medically cleared for contact, with Dan Quinn saying there were no structural setbacks but that medical staff advised holding him out to avoid further left elbow damage.Daniels, 24 and last season's Offensive Rookie of the Year, reinjured the left elbow after an original dislocation and also missed time with a knee sprain and a hamstring issue, finishing the campaign with 114 completions on 188 attempts for 1,262 passing yards, eight touchdowns and a passer rating of 88.1 while rushing 58 times for 278 yards. With Daniels sidelined Marcus Mariota will start the remaining games, the team said it will prioritize Daniels' long term recovery and full rehabilitation for the 2026 season, and Barry Svrluga noted the shutdown denies coaches and evaluators more live data and pushes major roster and development questions into the offseason.
