Bangladesh held its first parliamentary election on Thursday following the 2024 collapse of the government of Sheikh Hasina.Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus led an interim administration that oversaw the balloting of 127 million eligible voters and a referendum on constitutional reforms.Leading candidates include Tarique Rahman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Shafiqur Rahman of the Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami as results are anticipated on Friday.
