Interim President Sworn in Following Maduro Arrest

Delcy Rodríguez has been sworn in as the interim president of Venezuela following the capture and extradition of Nicolás Maduro to the USA on drug trafficking charges.Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, pleaded not guilty in a New York federal court where the former leader claimed he is a prisoner of war.While Rodríguez initially condemned the U.S. military operation as a violation of the UN charter, the military has backed her leadership as Russia and China demand his release.
