Tourists Prepare to Leave Socotra Following Mainland Conflict

Over 400 tourists will begin evacuating the island of Socotra via a Yemenia Airways flight to Jeddah on Wednesday.The group includes 86 Italians and several Australians who became stranded after fighting between Saudi-backed forces and separatists disrupted air travel.Although the island has been largely unaffected by the Yemeni civil war, recent clashes between Saudi Arabia and the UAE caused operational shutdowns.
