Taylor Rehmet flipped a long-held Republican State Senate seat in Texas after defeating the Donald Trump-backed candidate Leigh Wambsganss by more than 14 percentage points.The victory in the Fort Worth area occurred despite Leigh Wambsganss outspending Taylor Rehmet by $2.2M in a district Donald Trump won by 17 points in 2024.Following the result, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick called the loss a wake-up call while Senator Ted Cruz reportedly criticized the trade policies of Donald Trump and JD Vance.
