Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of conspiracy to collude with foreign forces and publishing seditious articles.The 78-year-old pro-democracy activist and founder of Apple Daily will serve 18 years of the new term consecutively with a prior five-year fraud conviction following a 156-day trial.International leaders including Donald Trump and Keir Starmer have called for his release, while human rights organizations warn the sentence is life-threatening given his age and health.
