Peter Magyar led tens of thousands of demonstrators through Budapest in a protest sparked by leaked videos that showed alleged abuse in state-run juvenile homes, with many chanting “Orban, get out!”Protesters and opposition figures accused Viktor Orbán’s government of ignoring reports for years after claims that police and prosecutors sometimes dropped or failed to pursue cases, even as arrests and police oversight of youth facilities followed.The demonstration, organised by the centre-right Tisza Party which in many independent polls is polling ahead of Fidesz, added to pressure on the government amid worries about media consolidation ahead of upcoming parliamentary elections.
