Opposition Questions Prisoner Releases After New Amnesty Law

PUD and other opposition groups demand transparency after verifying only 19 prisoner releases despite government claims of hundreds following the new Amnesty Law.The legislation, supported by Delcy Rodríguez, follows the January 2026 capture of Nicolás Maduro by USA forces.While Jorge Rodríguez reported eighty initial releases, PUD and Foro Penal maintain that over 600 individuals remain in custody.A parliamentary commission led by Jorge Arreaza is currently reviewing 1,557 applications for full amnesty and 11,000 requests for alternative judicial measures.
