Venezuela Releases 179 Prisoners Under New Law by Delcy Rodríguez

Venezuela released 179 prisoners under a new amnesty law following the capture of Nicolás Maduro by USA forces and his transfer for prosecution.Acting president Delcy Rodríguez enacted the legislation while Jorge Arreaza confirmed that 4,293 applications were filed despite exclusions for events like Operation Gideon.Human rights organization Foro Penal reported only 91 releases under the decree as over 200 prisoners launched hunger strikes to protest their exclusion.
