Zohran Mamdani announced he will preserve the Mayor's Center Against Antisemitism after being sworn in as the first Muslim mayor of New York. The Democratic Socialist was inaugurated at a disused subway station on New Year's Eve following the departure of Eric Adams. While overturning previous bans on synagogue protests, Mamdani vowed to protect Jewish residents as observers watch to see if the political left can govern.
