Francesca Lollobrigida secured Italy's first gold medal of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics by setting a new record in the 3000-meter speedskating.Swiss skier Franjo von Allmen won the men's downhill gold at Bormio while Swedish athletes Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson dominated the skiathlon event.The Games began with a massive opening ceremony at San Siro featuring Mariah Carey and Andrea Bocelli following reports of rail sabotage and a Norovirus outbreak.
