The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), founded in early 2025 and led by Executive Director John Acree, has ceased all aid operations in Gaza and transferred responsibilities to a US-led Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC).John Acree stated that GHF’s direct delivery approach and Secure Distribution Sites influenced future humanitarian practices, but GHF faced criticism from UN agencies, Amnesty International, and 170 humanitarian organizations for allegedly causing deaths, chaos, and inhumane conditions at distribution points.Following allegations by Palestinians and Hamas of violence involving Israeli troops and American security guards at GHF sites, Hamas welcomed GHF’s shutdown and called for investigations into its activities.
