Narges Mohammadi has initiated a hunger strike in a Mashhad prison to protest being denied access to her lawyers and family.The 53-year-old Nobel Peace Prize laureate was arrested on December 12 following a speech and is currently held in solitary confinement despite recent major surgery.Human rights groups like Amnesty International report that Narges Mohammadi was physically assaulted during her detention, while her family in Paris remains unable to contact her.
