Lucas Pinheiro Braathen made history at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics by winning the first-ever gold medal for Brazil and South America.The athlete completed the men's giant slalom in Bormio with a combined time of 2 minutes and 25 seconds to defeat Swiss skiers Marco Odermatt and Loic Meillard.Australian Jakara Anthony also secured a historic victory in the inaugural women's dual moguls as Latvia defeated Germany in a preliminary ice hockey match.These sporting achievements occurred as Italian authorities reported railway sabotage and Volodymyr Zelensky met with skeleton pilot Wladyslaw Heraskewytsch.
