Lake Tahoe Avalanche Watch Follows Record Deaths and Snowpack Rise

NASA imagery confirms the Sierra Nevada snowpack rose to 73% following recent storms that triggered the deadliest avalanche in California history.The National Weather Service issued an avalanche watch for the Greater Lake Tahoe area after nine skiers died near Castle Peak and two others were killed at nearby resorts.These storms increased the regional snowpack from 53% to 73% within two weeks while creating extremely hazardous conditions for winter sports.
